Quote of the Day

This gem comes from the New Testament, and it is one of the most passive aggressive things I have ever read. This sense of justice is soooooooooooooo convenient and self entitled, it should be used as the definition of a frenemy. Here it is:

"Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay." says the Lord. On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

So, if you are kind to your enemies, it is okay- God will put burning coals on his head. If the Bible is supposed to be the moral code for good behavior, is it no wonder that we have such messed up people? Nevertheless, the core message is the funniest. God has nothing better to do than reward you with torturing someone that you think is your enemy when you have went to all of the bother of being nice to them. I wonder if this punishment will include teachers who have given me crappy grades, coworkers who have given me trouble, or my brother when we have been fighting? So, the next time someone pisses me off, I am going to tell them that all of the good deeds are nothing because God will punish them later with burning coals on the head.

  1. Perhaps you'v never noticed that the spin we put on things we observe and read corelates much more with who we are than what we’ve observed and read?

  2. BTW- nice personal insult. Had I been in your position, I would have counteracted that passage with one from Sermon on the Mount. A passage that clearly reflected love and empathy toward those that we have personal strife with. Yet another reason as to why I am Atheist.
